Scotland: The Arbuthnott Manuscripts (Renfrewshire Council).

The winning treasure for Scotland is in a real league of its own. During the judging, this entry scored full marks for uniqueness, visual appeal and historical value. It was one of the few Scottish items of its kind to survive the Reformation, and as well as featuring some stunningly beautiful examples of manuscript painting, it also includes a blood-curdling rite of excommunication.
