Gill Blenkinsop

At 5pm I was in St John's Smith Square, London W1 rehearsing for the concert at 7.30pm entitled "The Day the Music died". It was on 5 December that Mozart died, so after the interval we performed the Mozart Requiem but only the music that Mozart himself wrote, so after 6 bars of the Lacrymosa the music stopped and the lights went out. It was very moving.

The picture shows the conductor Matthias Bamert and some members of the orchestra, the London Mozart Players. I am sitting behind the orchestra as a member of the Tallis Chamber Choir.
