Attached picture taken looking north at Le Carbet, on the NW coast of Martinique, Caribbean, just south of St. Pierre the original capital of Martinique that was destroyed in the 1902 eruption of Mount Pelee. Picture taken at 1pm local time (5pm GMT) on the 5th December.
Stopped off for a coffee at beach resturant while taking a few days off travelling around Martinique after a scientific research cruise to explore the active vent areas of Mid-Atlantic Ridge spreading zone.
Picture faily typical of this area of Matiniqiue, Black volcanic sand, 28 degC, this area quieter than the sunnier and coral beach areas of the south part of the island. Whole of Martinique faily quiet at the moment, gearing it self up for the christmas holiday season and I presume and a larger influx of tourists.
Been listening to pm for at least 25 years.
